Fellowship Alumni
Newberry fellows form a close community during their time at the Newberry and continue to build on that foundation long after they leave.
Past Newberry Fellows
Beginning in 1944 with a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation, the Newberry hosts researchers from different disciplines and backgrounds every year to engage with our collections. These fellows form a close community during their time at the Newberry and continue to build their relationships with one another and with the library long after they leave.
Work by Newberry Fellows
Newberry fellows go on to produce amazing work that stems from their research at the library.
Here are some examples of recent books by former Newberry fellows:
- Only the Clothes on Her Back by Laura Edwards (Long-Term Fellow 2019-20)
- Last Call at the Hotel Imperial by Deborah Cohen (Long-Term Fellow 2019-20)
- Botanical Entanglements: Women, Natural Science, and the Arts in Eighteenth-Century England by Anna Katie Sagal (Long-Term Fellow 2017-18)
Give to the Newberry
In November 2020, a group of former Newberry fellows launched the Fellow’s Fellowship Fund to support fellowships for future generations of researchers and scholars. To date, our network of alumni fellows have committed more than $100,000.
