Opportunities for Undergraduate Research
The Newberry Library welcomes all individual researchers who are at least 14 years old or juniors in high school to use the collection in our public Reading Rooms. For more information on conducting independent research in the Newberry collection, please see Services for Readers and Researchers.
The Newberry Institute for Research and Education also offers two undergraduate programs.
Associated Colleges of the Midwest: Research in the Humanities (ACM Newberry Program)
These undergraduate programs offer students in participating schools the rare opportunity to pursue interdisciplinary inquiry and primary source research at one of the world’s leading research libraries. Students are considered fellows and are part of the Newberry’s scholarly research community. Students receive the same extended-access hours to the Newberry that fellows and staff enjoy, and they are encouraged to consult with Newberry scholars and staff.
