Class Description

Guided by Jill Howe, a seasoned storyteller and producer, delve into the art of crafting compelling narratives drawn from your own experiences. Through interactive sessions, engaging exercises, and constructive feedback, develop essential storytelling techniques, from character development to plot structure. Each week, explore different facets of storytelling, honing your skills and discovering new depths within your own stories.

Whether you're a seasoned writer or new to storytelling, this workshop offers a supportive environment to explore your creativity and share your unique perspective. Join us and uncover the stories waiting to be told within you. Ignite your imagination, find your voice, and embark on a journey of self-discovery through the art of personal storytelling.

Jill Howe is the producer and founder of Story Sessions, a live storytelling series with real-time illustrations, since 2013. She has performed widely across Chicagoland, served as a resident storyteller at the Field Museum, led storytelling workshops for Newberry Library, and presented a Naperville Tedx Talk on vulnerability.

5 Sessions, $255 ($229 for Newberry members, seniors, and students). Learn about becoming a member.

We now offer our classes at three different price options: Regular ($255), Community Supported ($240), and Sponsor ($270). Following the models of other institutions, we want to ensure that our classes are accessible to a wider audience while continuing to support our instructors. You may choose the price that best fits your situation when registering through Learning Stream.
