This course will review the largest online genealogical databases—Ancestry, FamilySearch.org, MyHeritage, and Find My Past—comparing their strengths and surveying ways to use them effectively. Additionally, it will review the electronic genealogical resources available through the Newberry: American Ancestors, Ancestry.com, Fold3, and HeritageQuest Online. As time permits, we will also look at other little known but helpful resources available through the Newberry or the internet, including the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries and Chicago Ancestors.
