Class Description

This course will provide an in-depth exploration of the nonfiction book publishing process, focusing on the key elements that make a proposal stand out to literary agents and publishers. Participants will gain practical skills and insights into articulating their book ideas, understanding the market, and navigating the complexities of the publishing industry. By the end of the course, participants will have completed a book proposal and gained the confidence and knowledge needed to pursue their publishing aspirations and take the first steps toward becoming published authors.

Chloe Panta is a novelist and author of the captivating creative nonfiction title, Untapped Magic. She achieved the milestone of securing her inaugural book deal with an esteemed agent and publisher in just three months. Driven by her fervent dedication to empowering aspiring writers, she is committed to sharing her wealth of knowledge.

All virtual classes are recorded and made available on a password-protected basis to participants registered in the class. These recordings are available for up to two weeks after the class ends.

First Assignment

For our first session, please come prepared to share a brief summary of your current book idea or project during our discussion. We'll be diving straight into exploring your book concepts and discussing the steps to securing a nonfiction book deal.

    Cost and Registration

    6 Sessions, $200 ($180 for Newberry members, seniors, and students). Learn about becoming a member.

    We now offer our classes at three different price options: Regular ($200), Community Supported ($190), and Sponsor ($210). Following the models of other institutions, we want to ensure that our classes are accessible to a wider audience while continuing to support our instructors. You may choose the price that best fits your situation when registering through Learning Stream.
