Seminar Description
This course is designed to deepen and advance students’ comprehension and composition abilities in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA). By the end of the course, each student will be able to read and write full pages in grammatically correct MSA, describing themselves and their hobbies, work, and studies. They will be able to express complex actions in the past, present, and future tenses using the imperative mood and different verb forms. Lessons will also involve reading current news articles and short literary works.

Laurel Harig teaches classes on the art, history, and culture of the Arab world at several Chicago-area institutions. She holds an MA from the Divinity School at the University of Chicago and a BA in cross-cultural communications from Bard College.
