Seminar Description

Bob Dylan, a towering musical figure and the creator of some of the most significant music of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, has recently been awarded a Nobel Prize in Literature for his cultural contributions. This course will explore his singular place in American cultural history by examining his influences, listening to his music, and conducting close readings of his expansive songbook. Six sessions.

June Sawyers is a writer and editor and has published and lectured extensively on music and popular culture. She is the author of Bob Dylan: New York (2011).
