The Newberry has announced the appointment of Katy E. Hall to the position of Vice President for Development. She will arrive at the Newberry from the Lyric Opera, where she has served in a number of different capacities since 2011, most recently as Director of Individual, Foundation, and Government Giving.
Hall has substantial experience as a development officer, and she is deeply familiar with the cultural community of Chicago. Prior to her time at the Lyric, she was Director of Corporate Relations at Steppenwolf Theatre, having performed a similar role at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra from 2007 to 2010.
A participant in the Newberry’s adult education seminar program and a volunteer for the annual Book Fair, Hall already knows the Newberry from several angles.
“Through her extensive experience with cultural institutions across the city and her familiarity with the Newberry in particular, Katy has cultivated a lively understanding of the need for and challenges of humanities research,” says Newberry President David Spadafora. “She is deeply committed to working with the Development Department and the rest of the Newberry’s staff, as well as its Board of Trustees and other supporters, to advance our cause.”
A 2004 alumna of the University of Notre Dame, Hall graduated with honors in history and political science. Her Master of Arts Administration degree came in 2006 from the distinguished program of the School of Public and Environment Affairs at Indiana University.
Hall will join the Newberry staff August 10.
