The Newberry collection contains many illuminated manuscripts, including this book of hours written in Bruges around 1460. The manuscript was cataloged and conserved as part of the Sister Ann Ida Gannon Initiative.

In addition to our membership programs that recognize Annual Fund donors, we recognize donors through the following giving societies. Members of these giving societies receive special benefits, invitations, and recognition on donor plaques in the Newberry’s lobby, in the Annual Report, and in the online Honor Roll of Donors.

Society of Collectors

Members of the Society of Collectors support the Newberry in at least one of two ways: by making a gift of $5,000 or more to acquire items for the collection, or by making a gift of materials valued at $5,000 or more. Contributions to the Society of Collectors directly support the development of the Newberry’s collection.

For more information about the Society of Collectors, please contact Meredith Petrov, Director of Development, at (312) 255-3687 or petrovm@newberry.org.

Heritage and Genealogical Society

Membership in the Heritage and Genealogical Society is open to lineage and genealogical organizations and requires a minimum annual contribution of $2,500, which can support a wide variety of Newberry projects and activities based on the donor’s preference.

For more information, please contact Meredith Petrov, Director of Development, at (312) 255-3687 or petrovm@newberry.org.

Blatchford Society

Membership in the Blatchford Society is open to all who have made an estate or deferred gift commitment of any amount or value to the Newberry Library. Donors can make a gift through a bequest in their will, or by naming the Newberry Library as a beneficiary of life insurance, a charitable gift annuity, or a lead trust.
