Nine Years and STILL no Pulitzer?

Well, here we are, together again, exclaiming at the blindness of committees which are supposed to be celebrating literary excellence. Maybe no one expects to find it on a library’s website, but you’d think the NEWBERRY’S website would be different.
In any case, we can all celebrate the anniversary of this blog together with a bit of high quality verse…if you happen to have any around the house. In the meantime, here is a bit of contemplation which can be sung to the tune of “I’m Gittin’ Nuttin for Christmas”.
1. I brought a box of magazines:
Got a receipt for that;
Some Newsweeks and some Seventeens:
Got a receipt for that.
I know I cut some coupons out
And some stories, I’ve no doubt:
Thought I saw old Blogsy pout:
Got a receipt for that. Oh….
Cho: I gave my best things to Book Fair!
Don’t know why Blogsy looks sad;
I gave my best things to Book Fair!
I can’t see why that makes him mad.
2. My World Book’s been beneath the stairs:
Got a receipt for that.
Many volumes are still there:
Got a receipt for that.
Many covers aren’t that loose
My grandson spilled apple juice:
Mopped up some but what’s the use?
Got a receipt for that!
Cho: I gave my best things to Book Fair!
Don’t know why Blogsy looks sad;
I gave my best things to Book Fair!
I can’t see why that makes him mad.
3. That smell you smell’s the paperbacks:
Got a receipt for that.
I’ll claim thousands on my tax:
Got a receipt for that!
I bagged my DVDs in pairs:
Volunteers picked up my wares:
Eighty trips down flights of stairs:
Got a receipt for that!
Cho: Take my advice, whatever you do,
Get the receipt that’s due to you
When you give good things to Book Fair!
