Chicago Ward/Enumeration District Location Search

For a $7 fee the Newberry Library's Local and Family History staff will find the ward (for 1870) or enumeration district (for 1880, 1900, and 1910) for a particular street address in Chicago. Indicate whether the address you are searching for was found in a source dating before or after 1909, as most addresses were changed in that year.

Please note that this service does not include a search of the census itself, nor will it give an exact page or sheet number location in the census. If you have a particular name you want to locate in the census, you would be better off starting with a census index or soundex search. This search is best for researchers who do not have a name or who have not been able to find a name in an index. This search will provide the ward or district to search through for the known address.
