The Methodist Church was formed in 1939 through a merger of the Methodist Episcopal Church, the Methodist Episcopal Church (South) and the Methodist Protestant Church. The Methodist Church merged with the Evangelical United Brethren Church in 1968 to form the United Methodist Church.
