FamilySearch Research Wiki Update

Where do you go when your research takes a left turn and leads to a geographic area or ethnic group you’ve never researched before? How do you find out more about types of records you have never utilized?

One great place to start is with the FamilySearch Research Wiki. The wiki has just received a make-over so it is easier than ever to find the help you need. In addition to being able to browse by country or do key-word searches of over 70,000 articles on all aspects of genealogy, there are now sections on:

  • Beginning Genealogy
  • Find Records by Place
  • Research Tools
  • Wiki for Groups
  • Wiki News
  • Build the Wiki (for those interested in contributing articles)

While some of the articles are written by the FamilySearch library staff, many are contributed by knowledgeable genealogists everywhere. Anyone with expertise on a particular topic or locale is encouraged to participate.

Browse through the Featured Articles section to gain insight into topics you have yet to explore. Find a repository you have yet to visit. You’ll find links to great online sources as well as recommendations for print and manuscript materials you may otherwise have overlooked.
