Seminar Description

Even those passionate about attending “classical” music concerts sometimes hit a stumbling block when it comes to music using a vocabulary beyond that of the late nineteenth century. Through comparative listening, basic score study, and history, this seminar will demystify four of the main paths of classical music since the early twentieth century: Nationalism, Impressionism, Neo-classicism, and Serialism. Throughout the seminar, participants will be exposed to new ways of listening to and appreciating these types of music.

Four sessions. Registration – $195

Lawrence Axelrod is a composer, pianist, and leader of Opera Adventures. His musical activities have taken him around the United States, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
