As part of the Big Draw Chicago, the Campaign for Drawing’s month-long celebration of drawing and its utility in civic engagement, the Newberry hosts an event inviting Chicagoans to design their own over-sized book covers from ideas and topics drawn from the library’s collections, generalized under broad categories of maps, the west, the arts, Chicago, and families. Participants’ art will be displayed on the Newberry’s front fence, facing Walton Street, across from Washington Square Park. Drop in, draw, and share with friends and neighbors.
