Towner Fellows’ Lounge
This summer, a group of 22 NEH summer scholars and ten guest speakers has convened at the Newberry for a four-week institute on music and travel in the early modern period. The overall project of the institute has been to “listen to travel” – both literally and metaphorically. In this colloquium, Carla Zecher, the institute director, together with some of the summer scholars, will report on the group’s activities and findings. Using musical examples, they will describe how the institute has changed their ways of listening.
