“Were man but constant, he were perfect.”
Friendship and young love are put to the test in the Bard’s boisterous comedy. Fun for all ages, the story ends well for our titular gentlemen—but not before outlaws, romantic rivals, foolish servants, and their own inconstancy send them on a series of misadventures. Jeff Christian, known for his rollicking productions of The Comedy of Errors, Twelfth Night and The Taming of the Shrew, will be the master of mayhem directing an all-Equity cast of Shakespeare Project favorites.
A staged reading by professional actors from The Shakespeare Project of Chicago. An informative talk begins fifteen minutes before the performance, which is followed by a question-and-answer session with the director and cast. The Shakespeare Project was founded in 1993 and has performed at the Newberry Library since 2003.
